Believe Jesus is the son of God, believe he can forgive your sins, ask him to – is the number 1 (John 1)
After you have repented of your sins you need to live as God commands (your forgiveness is pointless if you’re going to keep sinning).
God’s commands are based on: Love God with all your heart, Love your neighbour as yourself. This should include:
- Only worship God
- Don’t make idols for yourself to worship
- Don’t blaspheme (misuse the name of the Lord)
- Observe the Sabbath (7th day), do not work on this day
- Honour your father and mother
- Do not murder
- Do not commit adultery
- Do not steal
- Do not lie about another person
- Do not covert anything someone else has (Deuteronomy 5)
- Don’t lie
- Don’t be a coward
- Don’t be sexually immoral
- Don’t practice magic arts (Revelations 21: 8)
- Act Justly, Love Mercy and walk humbly with your God (Micah)
- Give Generously to the poor and those in need (Matthew 25)
- Do not deny Jesus
